Events & Announcements
____________________________________

This is to advise you that construction work near the Liberty Avenue Rt. 22 Overpass will begin on Thursday, April 30, 2009. The gas lines that run beneath Liberty Avenue will be removed and replaced in this area in anticipation of the upcoming reconstruction of the Route 22 Overpass by the New Jersey department of Transportation.

On the evening of Friday, May 1, Liberty Avenue will be closed in both directions near the overpass. It will remain closed through the weekend (May 2 & 3) and should be reopened on Monday, May 4.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured via Bloy St. and No. Broad St.

Although this work is being performed on a weekend to minimize traffic congestion, it is likely that there will be some delays in travels between the north and south sides of Rt. 22.

Construction will continue in this area after May 4, however, there will be alternating lane restrictions and police officers controlling traffic. Delays are likely, particularly during morning and afternoon rush hours. Please plan accordingly.

Thank you.

Police Chief Robert Quinlan

Hillside Police Department
